The Guiding Principle of Intent at Blind Zebra

At Blind Zebra, everything we do is shaped by a clear mission: Make Selling Simple. At the heart of that mission, and of the Blind Zebra Sales Operating System, are our Guiding Principles. The three principles that make up the “Holy Trinity” of our framework are Abundance, Detachment and Intent.

Today, we’ll dive into Intent — the foundation that shapes how we show up as sales professionals, coaches, and humans.

What Is Intent?

A lot of people grow up in sales being taught that their job is to close everything. Win every deal. Land every prospect. But that’s not what we believe, and it’s not what we teach.

At Blind Zebra, Intent means showing up with the motivation to be helpful and resourceful to others — whether it directly benefits us or not.

Sometimes people hire us and pay us good money for our help. Sometimes we make a connection for them, give advice, or offer an idea they didn’t even ask for. Regardless of outcome, our intention is to assist them the best we can.

The Goal Is Always Clean.

We want to lift people up. Make them better. Be useful in whatever way we can. That might lead to business, or it might not. Either way, it’s the right way to operate.

This isn’t about giving everything away for free or being a pushover. It’s about having a clear, good-hearted, and resourceful intention in every interaction. Because when you do that, the outcomes tend to take care of themselves.

Why We Live This Way

When your intention is always to help — without forcing it to involve you — you build real trust, faster. You stop chasing deals that aren’t the right fit. You start attracting the ones that are.

Sales stops being a grind, and starts becoming a series of good, clean conversations with people you’re genuinely interested in helping (and who genuinely want your help).

And yes — some will say yes. Some will say no. Some will say maybe.

There’s always another one.

(But that’s a topic for when we talk about Abundance.)

This shift in mindset simplifies everything. It takes the pressure off, clears the noise, and turns selling into something you can be proud of.
